Solution:
#1. You can call GE appliance support, they charge you $99 for visit + parts+ extra labor
#2. You can call local appliance guys, they generally charge $49.00 + parts + extra labor (depending on the problem)
#3. DIYS for much less
I will try to give you my experience with #3 fix.
It all started with when one of friend advised me to try to repair yourself. I generally call GE appliance. Last time when it went down, I paid $200+.
After little bit of googling, I decided to open up the oven. There are 4 screws right in front to get the oven out of the wall. Then take out the cover, which has 12+ screws. Once its open I could see the burnt component right on top.
I took the pictures and show it to the local appliance parts guys. They quickly identified it as the cavity sensor. They had to order the part, it took 4 days to get the part and then I had to find the connected you can see in red. I snipped about a inch of the damaged/burned wire and gave about quarter inch wire open to go into the connector and used the plier to tightened the wire.
and that's called the field repair
The burned out item is called the "cavity sensor" which you can see sits right on the top. It's very easy to get yr hands around and replace it.
